Affordable Housing

Shackerstone Parish Council has passed a resolution supporting Carlton Parish Council in its plans to build affordable housing in Carlton in partnership with the Borough Council and a Housing Association. This housing will be primarily for residents of Carlton, but if there are not sufficient applicants from Carlton when the houses are available, applicants from Shackerstone Parish will be given priority.
This is still in the pre-Planning stages, and no final plans have been submitted.
Information about how to apply will be published on this website when the houses are due to be allocated.

LDF Site allocations

The Parish Council has objected to the allocation of 10 new houses for Congerstone in the Site Allocations Plan. Over the past few years Congerstone has grown by about 10 houses through conversion of existing barns, plus an additional 23 houses at Dovecot Close (former Dawkins site). We believe that any additional housing would change the nature of Congerstone and be detrimental to the village.

A recent Housing Needs Assessment carried out with the Borough Council’s Housing department revealed no local need for affordable housing.

The school is full to capacity and there is no bus service or local shop.
